Meeting new people should be fun. These practical tips help you stay safe while you get to know someone on Sevaz. Please take a moment to read them.
Before you meet
Take your time — there's no rush to move offline.
- Chat inside Telegram first. Get to know the person through messages before agreeing to meet. Keep your conversation on Telegram until you feel comfortable.
- Video-call if you're unsure. A quick video call is a simple way to confirm the person matches their photos and is who they say they are.
- Tell a friend. Before any meeting, let a friend or family member know where you're going, who you're meeting, and when you expect to be back. Share your live location if you can.
Meeting in person
The first meeting is the moment to be most careful.
- Meet in a public, busy place. Choose a café, restaurant, or another spot with plenty of people around. Never meet for the first time at your home, their home, or a private or isolated location.
- Arrange your own transport. Get to and from the meeting on your own — don't rely on your date for a ride, and don't get into a stranger's car. That way you can leave whenever you want.
- Stay in control. Stay sober enough to keep your wits about you, watch your drink, and don't leave food or drinks unattended.
- Keep your phone charged. Make sure you can call for help, reach your friend, or arrange a ride at any moment.
- Trust your instincts. If something feels off, you don't owe anyone an explanation. Leave.
Protect yourself
Most people are genuine — but scammers do exist, and they're often patient and convincing.
- Never send money, gifts, or crypto to someone you met here, no matter how convincing their story is. This is the single most important rule.
- Don't share financial information. Keep your bank details, card numbers, and payment-app logins private.
- Don't share your home address or documents. Hold back your exact address, passport, ID, and similar documents until you truly know and trust someone.
- Be wary of anyone who rushes intimacy or asks for money. Someone who quickly professes strong feelings and then needs financial help is a classic "romance scam." Real connections don't come with a bill.
Red flags
Be cautious if someone:
- refuses to video-call or to meet in a public place;
- tells emotional "sob stories" that end in a request for money;
- pressures you — to meet, to move off Telegram, to share private information, or to be intimate;
- gives inconsistent details, or a story that keeps changing;
- seems too perfect, too fast, or pushes to take things much quicker than you're comfortable with.
If you notice these signs, slow down and consider stepping away.
We don't vet people
Please read this carefully. Sevaz does not verify users' identities, does not run background checks, and does not check anyone's criminal history. We cannot confirm that people are who they say they are. You are responsible for your own safety and your own decisions. The tips on this page can lower your risk, but they can't remove it — please use your own good judgment at every step.
If something goes wrong
- Report the user or photo in the bot. Use the /support command in @sevaz_dating_bot to tell us about anyone who breaks our rules, makes you uncomfortable, or seems to be a scammer. Reporting helps protect you and everyone else on Sevaz.
- In real danger, contact the authorities. If you feel threatened or unsafe, or if a crime may have taken place, contact your local police or emergency services straight away. In an emergency, your safety comes first — call for help before anything else.
